Mobile Hygiene center

This unit would base washer and dryer as well as a shower washer. This supplied with hyperallergic detergents like 7th generation.
This proposal is being evaluated
Type of funding: Programs and services (non-capital)
Rough cost estimate: Between $2 million and $7.2 million
Evaluation notes:
✅ This idea could be implemented without changing current policy or law.
✅ This idea is within the City's jurisdiction.
✅ This idea doesn't name a specific vendor.
❌ This idea would incur costs indefinitely.
Justification: Yes if builds on existing programs. For hygiene station requests there need to be pre-planned and agreed upon sites. Washer/dryer is not something that has been implemented so far and would need deeper feasibility assessment. We would also need more information on desired locations/relevant geographies.
Other notes: - Hygiene facilities provided in specific areas: https://seattlecitygis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=311fcaa38e1c45328ade2de388cefcc6, https://atyourservice.seattle.gov/2022/02/25/2022-hygiene-shower-trailer-locations/ - Public hygiene program operations team within SPU The cost assumptions for this effort involve three options. One is a washer/dryer trailer ($1.4M per yr), the 2nd is a shower trailer ($1.6M per yr), and the 3rd is one site with both trailers ($2.4M per yr). Because the trailer would have to be rented, mobilizing these trailers to multiple sites per week brings a lot of risk to the City in terms of damage to the trailers. To do this option, having a static location provides the lowest level of risk to the city.
